Darbar Festival always presents the very best classical music to our audiences, in this case we present an amazing concert by two of the best young musicians in genre of Indian classical music, NIladri Kumar on sitar and Subhankar Banerjee on the tabla.
Niladri is a sixth generation sitar player who gave his first public performance at the tender age of six. Today he is one of the best known young sitar players in the world. Accompanying him on tabla is Subhankar, one of the most versatile tabla players of our generation.
In this recording Niladri performs Raga Bhairavi on Sunday 21 September 2014 at the Darbar Festival, Southbank Centre, London.
Darbar Festival was established in 2006 and takes place annually in London. It gives audiences the opportunity to explore some of the best improvised classical music in the world. At Darbar, we make it easy for you to enjoy the various traditions as we are the only festival that puts on Hindustani (North Indian), Carnatic (South Indian) and Dhrupad (India’s oldest yet timeless tradition) all on one stage, together right here in London.
